In our continuing quest to make operating Steadicam™ and handheld easier on the operator's body, we have developed a method of hard-mounting to a Handsfree Transporter.
The HT Hardmount is an add-on that allows operators to the freedom to use the Handsfree Transporter without carrying the weight of the camera. By removing the load of the camera from the operator, the operator can focus on camera operation and safe navigation. Additionally, by operating the Handsfree Transporter unencumbered by the rig, the operator's margin of safety is greatly increased.
The HT Hardmount consists of a 'roll cage' mounted to the stabilized platform of the Handsfree Transporter and a vertical spar with the hardmount and Suspender adaptor. In addition to providing the stabilized mounting point, the roll cage serves to stiffen the chassis.
The stabilizer arm is plugged in to a modified Walter Klassen Vehicle Mount, which is attached to a curved vertical spar at the rear of the Handfree Transporter. The HT Hardmount also comes with an adaptor for the Suspender - which allows handheld operators to enjoy the benefits of the Handsfree Transporter as well.
To further increase safety and convenience when using the Handsfree Transporter, the HT Hardmount provides unobstructed access from the front and rear of the unit. This makes for safe and easy entrances and exits from the Handsfree Transporter.
The HT Hardmount is extremely grip-friendly. The roll cage and spar made of standard 1½" pipe, which allows the easy addition of lights, mic booms, umbrellas, and coffee cup holders to the rig. The roll cage uses components from our Far Out System, which allows easy customization.
Grips can also use the spar to stabilize the operator during lock-offs or to slowly dolly the operator in. The spar also provides a support for the operator while stopping quickly from high speeds.
